Does leafing through seed catalogs fill you with hope?

Even here in Wyoming, where the growing season is short and every successful perennial feels like a small victory, I find myself lingering over flower books and seed catalogs. Some flowers may never find a place in my garden, but they still find their way into my imagination.

These ranunculus caught my attention because they seemed so full of life—reaching, unfolding, and celebrating the possibility of summer. Their warm coral and golden blooms felt joyful, optimistic, and impossible to ignore.

As I painted, I wasn’t thinking about a specific garden. I was thinking about possibility. About those quiet moments spent turning pages, imagining what might bloom, and dreaming of colors and flowers beyond what a Wyoming growing season allows.
