As I painted, I remembered the ocean storms of my earlier life — sudden, powerful, and humbling. Those moments demanded presence — to be here now. In my studio, far from the sea but close to nature’s own wild heart, I painted that same feeling: awareness, awe, and renewal.

Will the storm bring rain to nourish the land, or simply cleanse the air as it passes? Either way, Before the Storm reminds us that beauty and change are inseparable — and that peace can exist even in motion.
