Every June I wait for my peonies. Their heavy blossoms seem to appear almost overnight, filling the garden with color before Wyoming's wind reminds me how quickly beauty can pass. I've learned to bring them indoors while they're still opening, where we can enjoy them around our table for just a few precious days.

A Brief Blessing grew from those quiet moments of appreciation—not for flowers that last forever,but for the ones that remind us to notice beauty while it's here.

Rather than painting every petal with precision, I allowed transparent watercolor, expressive ink, and soft layers of color to suggest the flowers as they gently emerged into the light. I wanted the painting to feel as peaceful and fleeting as the blooms themselves.
