The Alexandria Necklace | Ancient Treasures Collection
The ancient port city of Alexandria still exists today in Egypt. What changes the city and port have seen since 331 BC! Some believe that the Egyptians were the first to make glass beads, as early as 2500 BC.
Were beads similar to the Alexandria Necklace excavated in Egypt? Dreaming of the ancient port, I torched my beads in random shapes, suggesting compression by time, or etching by the salty waters of the Mediterranean. The Alexandria Necklace is 21 inches long, and beautifully soft looking due to the etching I gave the glass. Old Roman glass spacers accent my "created to look old" beads.
The hollow glass beads, in green, blue and soft mauve, shift in color depending on the ambient light. The Alexandria Necklace closes with my sterling silver toggle clasp. (Learn more about the clasp here.) Wear the Alexandria all spring and summer. You will fall in love with the Alexandria's sea glass look, and keep it handy year round.
